Handmade pottery from Oregon
I’m Jeff Keating, the maker behind Oregon Mudslinger. I create functional pottery and sculptural pieces inspired by the textures and small creatures of the Pacific Northwest.
About the maker
I’m Jeff Keating, the ceramic artist behind Oregon Mudslinger, based in Eugene, Oregon. I took my first pottery class in 2023, and what began as a new interest quickly became a central part of my life. Today, I work with clay full time and teach wheel throwing at Clayspace.
I make both functional pottery and sculptural work, with a focus on texture, carving, and added details. The Pacific Northwest is a recurring source of inspiration, but I like to leave room for curiosity and play. A familiar form can become a place to try a new surface, explore an idea, or take the work in an unexpected direction.
I enjoy the balance between making something useful and making something expressive. A pot’s shape, the way it feels in your hands, and the details you notice up close all matter to me. Teaching is another part of that practice—a chance to share what I’ve learned while helping others develop their own relationship with clay.
